Russia is going to gradually decline log¡¯s export tax after it enters WTO, claimed Dmitry Wade Cove, Chief negotiator of Russian Accession to the WTO Delegation. Up to now, the current tax rate accounts for 25% of the price declaration, but it should be no less than 15 euro per cubic meter. Previous reports said that an agreement has been made between European Union and Russia, which agreed to suspend the increase of log¡¯s export tax till the end of 2011. According to the demand of Russian government, only restrictive tariffs are charged for log export, about 80% of customs value since 2009, no less than 50 euro per cubic meter. Yet, the plan has been delayed twice by the Russian government under the requirement of European Union in 2009 and the following year.
